California Legislature Passes Regulations On Cow Farts (NOT A JOKE)

Government controls your smoking and drinking, your driving, the education of your children.  The government controls they money you earn and how much you get to keep.  Now a moment of your day is free—every aspect of life, from the making of watches, to TV and radio stations, the cost of our housing, government is the heavy hand.  Now, the folks in Sacramento have decided to make it easy for the late night comedians—Sacramento wants to control the farts of cows—no this is not a joke—except on the people of California—and the cows.

“The measure was approved shortly before the end of the legislative session Wednesday after its author, Democratic Senator Ricardo Lara of Bell Gardens, agreed to give dairy farms more time to comply.

The legislation seeks to reduce methane emissions associated with manure to 40 percent below their 2013 levels by 2030. Methane is one of several gases known as short-lived climate pollutants that don’t persist for long in the atmosphere but have a huge influence on the climate.

First, does methane really make that much of an impact on our climate?  Since none of the climate models has panned out the way they were supposed to, one would be justified it being skeptical.

Second, doesn’t California have bigger concerns?  After all, they’re dealing with a water crisis, an unsustainable fiscal situation, high-speed rail boondoggles, and many other things.  Yet none of that is what they decided to focus on.  Nope.  Cow farts.”

California has a $1.5 trillion debt.  Our pension systems have over $1 trillion in unfunded liabilities, we have the highest taxes, water, energy and housing costs in the nation—Lara is known for his support of Mexico and illegal aliens, wanting the drug cartel to have ease in crossing our borders and criminals from foreign nations taking the jobs of black American and others needing starter jobs.

Cow farts.  California is the punchline of this sick joke.

California Legislature Passes Regulations On Cow Farts

California has officially become a parody of itself

By Tom Knighton, samepagenation,  9/2/16

While many may disagree regarding the role of government–whether it’s merely to protect individual rights or it’s to make people’s lives better–one thing everyone should agree on, and that’s how stupid laws shouldn’t even be considered.

However, in California, the most asinine regulations imaginable were not only considered, they passed.  The regulations?  Apparently, they wanted to regulate cow manure, which might make some sense, but also cow flatulence.  You know…farts.

From KCBS:

California’s Legislature has approved regulations on cow flatulence and manure – both blamed for releasing greenhouse gases.

The measure was approved shortly before the end of the legislative session Wednesday after its author, Democratic Senator Ricardo Lara of Bell Gardens, agreed to give dairy farms more time to comply.

Nope.  Cow farts.

That’s not to say cow farts aren’t a problem.  A couple of years ago, a German barn exploded due to a methane buildup.  We fully expect California to institute a waiting period for cows to pass gas, as well as strict regulation on the storage of said gas.

Seriously, though, this is ridiculous.

just goes to show everyone what a cesspool California and it’s legislature really is……………..
the legislature’s GREED and EVIL are without compare………
California has been lost to the COMMUNIST / MARXIST and OLIGARCHY EVIL………

  2. The Left wants free food and such but does not want to pay the cost. (cost?)

As the Democrats continue to hammer ag. land are they willing to import food from countries like China?

Hey you veggie types out there no eating beans.

  3. If anyone would know about farts, it is the members of the CA Legislature –
    all certified A**holes!

    • THE CAPTIVE says

ABSOLUTELY! The farts of the legislature are meant to be obscured by their words against the citizens and cattle—and don’t forget that the LEFT-LIBS OF THE LEGISLATURE use this as a means to distract us from Hitlery ‘s dhimmi campaign against the Western Culture- she is with the Arabs and betrayed our military and embassy in BENGHAZI—A TRUTH WELL KNOWN. The Legislature of CA -farts big time!

      • ImFuckingYourWife says

what’s matter angry man you find another mans dirty underwear in your bed. Setting aside this article is a COMPLETE over simplification of a complex issue. It is a straight up third grader puff piece. Even so you somehow managed to drag Benghazi into it which makes you a laughable fool.

  4. I know the green folks love their “wetlands” as much as they hate “climate change.” So which wins out? Methane control? Or the waterfowl and fishes?

The major climate of the wetlands – formerly insulted with the name of “swamps” is – ta da! – methane AKA “swamp gas.”

Oh, these heart-rending decisions. Similar to crying over the endangered desert tortoise as we blade the desert bare to install solar fields to combat climate change.

Or crowding more and more people into smaller and more costly spaces so they will use those transportation systems known as “public.”

When coal and petroleum cease to be villainized, who will we blame for climate change then? Let’s figure it out now.

  5. More stupidity by an non-scientific political hack. This is probably way over his head but if you look at the bands where radiation is absorbed for methane and water they are almost identical. Methane is a minute trace gas that makes up a very small part of the atmosphere while water vapor (the main driver of any heating) makes up about 3% of the atmosphere. CO2 is a pitiful .039% and mankind is only responsible for 6% of THAT! Anyway what radiation is being absorbed is overwhelmingly absorbed by water vapor before methane even gets a shot at it. I would assume that methane contributes NOTHING to the equation

  6. The earth exudes methane and CO2 and yet the earth survives just fine but the lowly political hacks trying to take a buck are bound and determined to try and stampede the weak minded and the charlatan into your house and steal money from your bank account, the politicians arrange the brand of legalized theft and you suffer the results……..I keep harping on the self inflicted plight of Ca, the state over run by useless legal thieves called the Ca legislative assembly and the senate, it is lawyer city parsing words and shylocking the citizens into voting on confusing legislative ballot initiative that will net you a fee either way you vote or if it has use the Ca courts will over rule the taxpayers and voters…..I vote for term limits no retirement for all elected and appointed gov officials, I vote for a part time legislature and I vote for no illegal gov unions…..I vote to regain our representation and stop the pilfering ways of the Ca govs, so Ca can have a decent future and economic freedom from oppressive state gov….I might even move back into the state if this could happen…

  7. Roger Jensen says

The best answer for this problem is to build a pipeline alongside the HSR right-of-way with pumping stations to maintain pressure and run the cow exhaust gasses from the San Joaquin Valley dairy farms, right into the chambers of both the Assembly and Senate, as well as the governor’s office.

  8. Don’t tell Sacramento that bears shit it the woods?

  9. Shouldn’t they be requiring the cows to register every fart and have a background check — like they do on bullets.

What’s the difference between a California legislator and a blithering idiot? Not much!

  10. Pretty sure this proves the mentality of Sacramento in total. I’ll bet they’re positive that milk, butter, cheese, steaks, & hamburger all originate in the cold counter at Safeway and Raleys?

  11. I can see where this is going. We’ll put a limit on how much cows can fart. Farmers will get fart credits for their cows, but not enough credits for the cows they have. The the farmers can buy extra fart credits from farmers who ate their cows at a quarterly state sponsored fart credit auction. Those guys in Sacramento are geniuses. They will not only tax the free air that God provided once but twice. Carbon credits and fart credits. If selling the credits doesn’t raise all the money they can spend, they will simply extend the the fart limits from cows to teen age boys.

  12. “The more corrupt a state, the more numerous the laws” Tacitus

  13. “California’s Legislature has approved regulations on cow flatulence and manure – both blamed for releasing greenhouse gases.”

And yet California legilators do not see the need to regulate their brains?
Small wonder, since regulating the issuance from both cow manure and their brains creates a conflict of interest due to similairty.

  14. I suggest that every politician that voted for this law be assigned to hold a bag in back of each cow and catch every fart……that will at least keep them to busy to think up more idiotic laws!

  15. Sally Rapoza says

TIME FOR THE STATE OF JEFFERSON!

  16. I used to live in Bakersfield, and there were days it was a serious problem. But really now, legislation?

  17. Soon they will make cows illegal in California, still want milk so they will make people buy milk from out-of-state so that they won’t have to deal with the methane problems. Methane can’t cross state lines, you know. There will be just as much methane pollution in the world. A better solution it seems to me would be to process the methane as a form of cooking gas Kama as they do in Africa and most other countries, and kill both birds with one stone. Is that a politically incorrect statement?

  18. The only thing the assembly can do without extreme worldwide ridicule is limit a farm to a maximum on methane pollution. the only way to do this is to sample the air with expensive equipment. the price of owning a cow may have jumped 50%. on top of depriving the farms of cheap water they introduce additional costs to put farmers out of business.

  19. Casey Toney says

personally I am more concerned about the methane gas being expelled by California politicians…..jeez Louise

  20. Why doesn’t Sacramento pass legislation that demand that illegal aliens stop flagellating and require that they daily deliver their manure to wherever they are from?

They cause more pollution than our resident animals.

So like stop picking on our cows. They are American citizens by birth, live here without violence, gift us with healthy milk, cheese, meat and nourishment, and are obedient to Natural Law.

  22. I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that cow farts pale in comparison to termite farts, Termites emit far more methane than cows.

  23. btw, This has little to do with greed and evil, and more to do with PETA and the animal rights movement. They submit the bills and testify to the committees in the senate and assembly. When ranchers don’t show up to provide a counterpoint, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It’s that simple.

  24. Not surprising coming from the land of ignorance, where Asian refers to a select group of Asian countries and then think it depicts a race; they can’t quite grip the concept that the Midwestern states do not have oceans; and thinks that your lawn is more important to water than the rice fields.

  25. Going Coastal says

Ignorance abounds on this issue . . . if you do your homework this legislation will make sense . . . or maybe not . . .

  26. –its belches not farts! and Intensively reared cattle produces 40% less methane than grass-fed cattle.http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/Cows.htm
