Residents fear SoCalGas customers will ‘freeze to death’ trying to save money to pay sky-high bills

Is Gavin Newsom bankrupting and killing Californians?  His anti-energy policies have killed jobs, tax revenues and the future for many.  The Newsom economic and job policies are forcing the productive people to leave the State for their own economic and physical survival.

“Now, some residents in the high desert fear some people might freeze to death trying to save money on heating their homes.

“The majority of people and family members that I have, they only put the heater on gas on for about 15 or 20 minutes in the night and in the morning for the children because they cannot pay the bill,” said Lancaster resident Char Lavelle. “They are working two jobs and they still can’t afford it. So, it’s really a bad thing right now.”

The Newsom/Democrat crime policies are killing people. Their policies on illegal aliens and killing of babies, is a death sentence for California.  Now the energy policies will add to the death toll of the Democrat Party.

Residents fear SoCalGas customers will ‘freeze to death’ trying to save money to pay sky-high bills

The utility company said January bills will likely be “shockingly high” as natural gas prices skyrocketed. Now, some residents fear some people might freeze to death trying to save money on heating their homes.

LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) — SoCalGas said natural gas prices reached “unprecedented levels” on the West Coast and warned customers that January bills will likely be “shockingly high.”

The utility company cited higher demand for natural gas due to below-normal frigid temperatures in areas like the Antelope Valley and beyond.

Now, some residents in the high desert fear some people might freeze to death trying to save money on heating their homes.

SoCalGas has since created a webpage to help customers understand their bill.

With freezing temperatures hitting the Antelope Valley night after night, some people told ABC7 they’re now exploring alternative methods to heat their homes to avoid being slammed with a gas bill they can’t pay.

“Well I don’t feel it’s fair,” said Lancaster resident Mark Mangold. “The squeaky wheel gets the attention. The more people complain, the better off it is.”

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Fire Department is warning customers that using creative ways to heat your home to save a buck can be dangerous – or even deadly.

“It’s never advisable to use anything other than installed systems like a furnace or a fire place when you try and heat your home,” said Brian Rodela with LACoFD. “Using any other open flame devices can produce possible toxic gases and create an additional fire hazard in your house.”

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the reasons behind the price hike of natural gas included the following factors:

·  Widespread, below-normal temperatures

·  High natural gas consumption

·  Reduced natural gas flows

·  Pipeline constraints, including maintenance in West Texas

·  Low natural gas storage levels in the Pacific region

Earlier this month, SoCalGas announced it contributed $1 million toward its gas assistance fund, which gives one-time, $100 grants to qualifying applicants.

And for how many households did Char Lavelle and Mark Mangold volunteer to pay for their heating bills? At least SoCalgas is helping with their web page. They help people understand why they are freezing.

  2. Chuck Davis says

Noticed it didn’t place any responsibility of high prices on the administration’s energy policies. LOL!!!

  3. Concerned Californian says

The people will only take this failed leadership for so long.

  4. If the deaths due to people avoiding using their gas heat (to save money) are with White people, progressive Gov. Newsom will not give a damn.

If the deaths are with minorities and/or illegal aliens, Newsom will quickly do something. Send out more rebate debit cards? (Lots of middle-class folks haven’t received their card yet.)

California will soon be inhabited by homeless, illegal aliens and very poor people. Everyone else will have moved to a red state.

  5. When do We the People decide enough is enough and get out and off the couch and into the streets,

Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take It Anymore!!

    When????

  6. It must be global warming.

    I
If you look at the temps of the northeast in the past 3 years it has been dropping.

If you look at the temps in the past 3 years of Calif. (particularly on the 50 mile coastal plane you will see except for certain months below normal temps.

Look at the northwest and upper north mid west you will see lower temps similar to “normal” temps.

Anyone looking at the temperatures in Japan, Mongolia, and northern China???? Gee the lower temps must be global warming.

It has been a rough time for the “politically correct”……

There you go…..and why have you voted Democrat?

Must be because you love ANTIFA, BLM, AND OTHER RADICAL RIOTS.

Oh, ya think?! There are only TWO WAYS people are leaving this state; by car and by hearse.
