Once again, California policies and the legislature have made us the worst in the nation. The worse news is that three of our cities are at the top the list of the worst cities in the nation—thanks to government policies. In this case, if you are middle class you need to stay away from Fresno, Los Angeles and Stockton.
“A new report from California’s Chapman University crunched the numbers to find out which cities are the best for middle class families. The study analyzed local incomes adjusted for cost of living, economic opportunity for middle class jobs, and family friendliness factors such as commute times, housing affordability and net migration of families.
The report’s authors concluded that Fresno, California, was the worst place in America for middle class families, thanks in part to the city’s high cost of living. The next two worst cities on the list were also located in the Golden State, Los Angeles and Stockton.”
While the Governor is crowing about a “recovery”, his policies are killing the middle class. His goal of making California a State for the very rich, the very poor and the illegal alien, is coming to fruition. When the rich leave for a cheaper and less taxed State, everything collapses and the media will ask, “what happened?”. Shame on them for not reporting the real story.

SLIDESHOW: The 10 Worst Cities for Middle Class Families
The ability to live comfortably on a middle class income varies greatly based on where you live. A new report from California’s Chapman University crunched the numbers to find out which cities are the best for middle class families.
The next two worst cities on the list were also located in the Golden State, Los Angeles and Stockton.
Metro areas with large populations and a high cost of living dominate the worst cities on the list. “It seems what we usually see as ‘fun cities’ — New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles — are not so amenable to the new generation of young families,” the report states.
Smaller cities performed much better. Des Moines, Iowa, ranked first on the list, followed by Madison, Wisconsin, and Albany, New York.
“Our great urban centers and elite regions will continue to attract some of the unattached young, the restless, and the well-heeled for the foreseeable future,” the report states. “Increasingly, though, America’s children will be raised elsewhere, in places perhaps less celebrated but more amenable to the needs of families.”

I live in the worst fiscally responsible county in the nation, Los Angeles! We have been dominated ( actually a dictatorship ) by uber liberal, brain dead democraps for at least two or more decades! The anti business climate is so bad, as is the insane traffic, I am totally surprised any business here survives the rules, regulations, and tax structure! Everyone here has hands out and palms upturned for the promised, free handouts!! We are almost at the tipping point of insolvency and NOBODY talks about it! They continue to live in financial la la land! Bankruptcy is just around the corner!! As we circle around the cesspool drain of history!!
I don’t live in LA but I feel your pain, here in the central valley this anti business, laws apply only to the working class etc. is a huge problem, and our voices haven’t been heard in a very long time.
And six of the top-ten are in CA!
I don’t think that’s fair. Everyone, legal and illegal, wants to come to California so housing costs go up and wages go down and commute times go up and jobs become scarce.
What I mean by not fair is it makes cities in other states with worse policies look good, only because nobody wants to go there anyway.
It is true though that when times get tough warm sandy beaches and year-round perfect weather become less important.
