From LA Daily News:
Pressured by a $16 billion budget deficit, Gov. Jerry Brown is proposing a major overhaul of the state’s welfare-to-work program with the strategy of slashing people’s benefits to motivate them to get jobs faster.
The move, if approved by the state Legislature as part of the 2012-13 budget package, would save $880 million, but beyond the savings, analysts say it represents a shift in the philosophy of how the Golden State helps its neediest residents.

I am against “Welfare” I consider it to be an “Enabler” that keeps people on th dole. I can under stand it to be a “temporary assistance” until the person gets back on their feet. But not a “Permament solution” and continue to stay on it. It also needs more stringent requirements such as drug and alcohol testing and to see where and how they live, thats usually a clue.
If this is approved by the state legislature, I’ll be totally dumbfounded. Getting anything passed by those big spenders is almost impossible.
DemocRAT party created a LAZY FREELOADERS generation in CA. Mexican government dump millions of unwanted poor & uneducation mexicans to the US. Lots of latino illegals came to CA because you can get free everything if you are illegals and you can work for cash without pay tax, the more you have babies the more you have lots of more money & food and everything specially you can vote for demoRAT
even you are illegals because without ID to vote & NO check up your statue to know you are US citizen or not.
DemocRAT governors & congress used taxpayers money to give freeloaders to buy votes.
yeah,, the dumbocrats chase business’ out of California and we have such a high unemployment percentage now. I am NOT for welfare but they better get business’s back so people can get work and everyone pay their share of the tax’s. I agree the welfare program needs to be a temp. thing but some serious thought and planning needs to go into thisw so we do not hqve3 ,more homeless. seems like were in a catch 22 situation ,,, I am lost for words to say what I am trtying to get across but that is the gist of it.
So we want to force welfare recipients to get to work faster but there are no jobs out there for them to go to. Most welfare recipients don’t want to go to work anyway. I worked in DPSS, in Riverside County, for 5 years and saw what was/is going on there. I actually saw people from other states coming into our welfare offices, after driving 2000 miles in a car nicer then mine, and looking for the handout….not a hand up but a hand out, free money. Welfare does need to be cut, especially to the illegals.
Now if this state continues to tax and fee business’s to death, there won’t be any jobs for anyone because business will move out of state to survive. You cannot tax/fee yourself into solvency. The State of California must learn to not waste our money on stupid stuff; high speed rail, welfare to illegals, etc., etc.,…………
We need jobs! Period. The cuts in public assistance is past due. But at the same time, the state need to cut the corp. tax rate and all other taxes. stop these mindless regulations that have put such a heavy burden on small and large businesses alike. Stop the union control our legislatures seem to be in bed with. Secure our border. Only a few suggestions. With out these the problem only gets worse.
