Democratic lawmakers have vowed all spring to fight spending cuts to programs that serve the poorest Californians, including welfare-to-work and Cal Grant scholarships.
In a Capitol where fiscal maneuvers have flourished in recent years, Gov. Jerry Brown says he wants real cuts to health and welfare programs because the state cannot afford what it provides.

I have to agree with the Professor Jeff Cummins. Brown has to get some “Gonads” and say “NO” and take a stand and dismiss the gimmicks the Dummocraps want. he could start with the wastefull programs assisting the “Illegals”. then move on to the “welfare ” programs. But the big fight will be with the “Unions”. He can adopt the same methods Gov Scott walker did, he could learn from that but i doubt if he would..
He ca also start with his and every member of the legislatures salary. No fix the problem, no pay. Give them 15 days to come up with a viable solution. And no back pay if they do come up with a solution. They start from scratch, including a 5% pay in cut, if things don’t continue to improve another 5% pay cut. If they don’t like it they can quit!
