The most striking thing about the current Republican vice presidential field is its striking superiority to the Republican presidential field of six months ago. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Rob Portman are among the more accomplished, knowledgeable, ideologically balanced political figures in American politics. The same could not be said of Rick Perry, Herman Cain or Michele Bachmann.
The untested, of course, are also unwounded. It is easier to appear qualified and dignified when you haven’t been stripped, prodded with sharp sticks and forced to perform tricks on dozens of debate stages.
Rubio is not eligible for VP. His parents didn’t become citizens until after he was born. Let’s not get in the same boat as the group who conveniently overlooked obama’s eligibility in 2008. Time to return to the rule of law as established by the Constitution. I am discouraged to see CPR perpetuate this mythical eligibility. What other issues are you glossing over and not doing the research on? Soon I will treat you like the rest of the MSM – no patronage.
Newt Gingrich would be the person I would like as VP. He has the knowledge to be a great backup. Also if something were to happen to Romney he would be able to step right up and be productive right away.
If someone like Christie gets the nod we are doomed. More pandering to the left with a hard core RINO? If we elect a “conservative” that picks and chooses the parts of the constitution he likes and works around the parts he dislikes, what have we gained over the status quo? Like it or not, it looks like Romney is to be the opposition to the libs come November. Let’s encourage him to pick a running mate that will have the traits we hard core conservatives seek and that will give his (Romney) campaign some backbone. I cast my vote to Allen West.
